Five separate strains of mice have been tested for their relative susceptibility to per os infection with the Type II bacillus of mouse typhoid (Bacillus pestis caviæ), more than 500 individuals of each strain having been employed in the course of 12 months. Clear-cut differences in the susceptibility of these strains to the infection have been shown to exist.
