A class I major histocompatibility complex tetramer as it might appear from the surface of a T cell. The model is based on the known structures of HLA-B8, shown in darker blues, and streptavidin, shown in light blue. Three class I molecules are clearly able to contact the surface with the fourth molecule in a less accessible position. See related article in this issue by McMichael and O'Callaghan, pp. 1367–1371.
